How much would that suck if you could accidentally fall off ledges? Especially considering things like lag spikes?

It would suck, a lot. Basically I remember falling off the world tree in WoW while exploring the area...! Had to swim for miles to land.

I take it someone just bought Factions and wants to turn it into a general MMORPG?

I do think those invisible walls help a lot, it would be a mayor annoyment if I got
DP because I accidentally fall off a cliff or get separated from my team and get killed.
So I vote yes for the invisible walls.
Anyway, I filled in your poll, it's very nice and professionally made.
Good luck with the thesis

You will get used to it, you can't jump in GW as well, you might want to note that in your thesis!
GW is still a great game with Invisible walls and no jumping.
Note: There is alcohol..

There, completed your survey
About the walls: Guild Wars can be hard enough as it is, without the walls failing a mission can really piss ppl off and stop playing the game :P

Just deal with the way Guild Wars is, that's simply the best.

I get more annoyed with visible 'walls' that my grandmother could walk over, yet somehow stop mighty heroes.

Invisible walls are very annoying. Should be fixed like many other annoyances in game.

the "invisible walls" is pretty much a non-issue; a quick look at the design for game play should make why this limitation exists clear.
in fact, if you really stop and look at it, this game has no true concept of vertical height; you can attack (and be attacked by) enemies from the base of a tower if you can get close enough to them on the x/y axis (z axis would be height).

i don't have a problem with invisible walls so much as i do not being able to access an interesting-looking area (ie; island castle near Ascalon Settlement) because of a very small bit of water or a very gentle slope that the devs decided we couldn't cross...

Look at game such as Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, you can go everywhere you wanted. You can swim across the rivers or oceans to reach small island and you can fall to your death in this game. Maybe they can include this in MMORPG but the things such as lag, body blocking...etc might cause more deaths and problems than making the world realistic.
